2026 pru Solo Nationals Memorial Scholarship Announcement

In 2026, an SVR member will be the recipient of the pru Solo Nationals Memorial Scholarship fund. Through the donations collected from the slot car races at last year’s banquet and the Yooper Cup Charity event, SVR was able to contribute over $2,500 to the scholarship fund in 2025.  As a result of this incredible generosity, there are enough funds to provide the scholarship award for approximately 25 years.  In addition, the scholarship amount will be increased to $600.00 this year to cover the Solo National Championships entry fee and additional expenses.

Additional details on the pru Solo Nationals Memorial Scholarship are outlined below.  If you are interested in going to the Solo National Championship event, this is a great opportunity to help offset some of the costs.  Please email your application to lfeighner28@gmail.com with the subject “pru scholarship” by 4/30/2026.

pru Solo Nationals Memorial Scholarship Award

The pru Solo Nationals Memorial Scholarship fund was established by Lorie and Grace Pruett in 2024 to celebrate the memory of Chris Pruett.  Chris was a longtime member of the Sports Car Club of America’s Saginaw Valley and Northwestern Ohio Regions.  Autocross was his passion and attending the Solo National Championships provided great joy.

The scholarship will provide monetary reimbursement for the Solo National Championships entry fee and additional expenses up to $600.00 to one recipient annually.  The recipient will be selected from applicants from the Saginaw Valley Region (even numbered years) or the Northwestern Ohio Region (odd numbered years).

To qualify, applicants must have SVR or NWOR as their region of record and be in good standing. Interested region members must submit a completed application to the Regional Executive and/or scholarship administrator by the deadline.  In addition, individuals can be nominated by other region members, with the understanding that the individual must be willing to accept the award and attend the Solo National Championships. Applications will be accepted January 1 – April 30 of the award year.

Applications will be reviewed by the applicable region’s executive board (Saginaw Valley Region in even numbered years and Northwestern Ohio Region in odd numbered years).  The executive board will utilize the following criteria, each weighted equally.  Applicants/Nominees will receive scores from 0-5 in each category to determine the recipient.

·       Financial Need – Individual may not be able to attend without this monetary assistance

·       Solo Nationals Attendance – Individual has never attended or hasn’t been able to attend in 3 years

·       Be Like Pru – Individual displays passion, enthusiasm and is supportive of fellow competitors

·       Leadership – Individual is ambassador of region and/or SCCA

The region’s executive board will select the scholarship award recipient no later than June 1 of the award year.  The recipient will be notified of his/her selection by the Regional Executive and/or scholarship manager by June 1.  The award recipient will register for the Solo National Championships.  After attendance at the Solo National Championship event, the recipient will send a copy of the results and photo(s) from the event to receive the scholarship funds.

In addition, the region will receive payment from the scholarship fund to cover administration costs for the awards (ex: certificate, permanent award, etc).
